"Go North, Democrats" -- We're Goin' To Greeley!

Well, it's official. The State Party Site Selection Committee met on Saturday in Greeley and, after a day-long visit to all of the proposed venues, unanimously recommended that the 2006 State Assembly be held in Greeley.

As you can see, Weld County's proponents were ecstatic:

(L-R: Weld County Dems VC and Greeley City Council member Pam Shaddock, Greeley Chamber President Sarah MacQuiddy, and Weld Dem Chair Ray Peterson).

Assuming the Executive Committee approves the recommendation on July 9, the State Assembly will be held the weekend of May 19-21, 2006. Friday night's activities will center in downtown Greeley, while the State Assembly itself will be on Saturday at the Island Grove Regional Park Events Center.

I can tell you firsthand that the folks in Greeley are really excited about rolling out the red carpet for the Democrats next spring. There's lots of work to be done, but I'm already convinced these folks are going to put together a fantastic weekend for us next year!
